Damage to enemies counts towards this achievement (and the similar ones), but damage to yourself or to team members counts against it. For example, casting Drain Bolt on your own Fairies will reduce your damage counter by 75. The damage is added at the end of the game; if the damage for that game is negative then it is ignored, so the counter never goes down.
