To die in a nuclear explosion, the player must first lose their shield, then launch the nuke (preferably close to a nearby wall), and finally die from the nuclear explosion and not by another source (hitting a mine, wall, enemy alien, or being shot by an enemy alien).
It is advised to achieve this in earlier levels because of the weaker aliens and fewer mines.
Nukes are dropped by enemy aliens after each boss level following each rock field level (however they are dropped in levels 16 and 20 because there are enemy aliens in those levels).
